A restored vintage poster print by the artist Mauzan, circa 1930, for Cirio tomato extract. This design was utilised in many European countries with the line of text at the top changing depending on the language spoken. This particular version was for the Spanish market. The design infers the product is popular with chefs, so therefore it must be good!
Achille Lucien Mauzan (1883-1952) was born on the French Riviera and moved to Italy in 1905. He was known as a decorative illustrator during the Art Deco movement. During his career as a poster printer and designer, Mauzan created over 2,000 posters using a style marked by humour and brilliant colours for advertisements and events. In 1924 in Milan he established his own publishing house and in 1926 he travelled to Argentina and set up the "Affiches Mauzan" (Mauzan Posters) publishing house where many of his greatest works were created and where he worked until 1932.
